Winter commute

Ok, it’s getting a LOT colder. Even Aberdonian people are feeling it, and today we had warnings about a flash freeze overnight (so take care, North-East peeps!). It’s only going to get worse, and once Christmas is over, what’s there to like about this time of year?

Well, for a person from the tropics, growing up just 3 degrees North of the equator, this whole business of sunrise and sunset times changing through the year is still very much a novelty (it’s only been eight years). So even though it’s really cold and dark when you have to leave in the morning, it’s nice to be greeted by the sunrise. No waking up super-early needed here! Ok, so on the flip side, it gets dark so early in the evenings, but you’re on your way home then, so that’s ok 🙂

This used to be my daily walk down to the bus stop

And my work is near the harbour. What I like about this one, apart from the lovely purply sky, is that the boats almost look like they’re part of the rush hour traffic too!

I was going through some of my photos and came across these ones. I’d been moaning about the weather again, wondering just how horrid this winter’s going to be, and thinking what a crash it would be after Christmas…so it was a nice reminder that some clouds can have a lovely pinky-purple lining, and you don’t have to go out of your way to enjoy it.
