Gareth got all crafty today, and made up a little holder for his cufflinks.
He got out an old picture frame and drilled holes in the backing board. Then he layered on some stuffing, placed a layer of fabric to cover, and pressed it back into the frame and snapped the little holders in place.
Then he used a large tapestry needle to poke holes through the fabric, and then made a larger slit with scissors. The next job was then pushing all the cufflinks through the holes. Bit difficult the first time, but fine after that. Then he just trimmed the fabric down to about 1cm from the backing board, and used the glue gun to stick it down.
A place for everything, and everything in its place.
January really does seem to be the month for getting organised. Perhaps it’s having that time at home over the holidays that makes you start doing things…
We decided to make a bit more use of this corner of our kitchen.
So we got some shelves, painted them (argh, gloss paint!), and put them up.
Now all the cookbooks have a home in the kitchen. The memo board and mail holder moved across to the wall on the other side of the door.
We also got going with doing up our hallway: taking down wallpaper, sanding the stair rails and door frames (so many fiddly bits!), and eventually painting everything. A project that’ll go on for a wee while, but I’m certainly looking forward to a nice brightened up hallway when we’re finally done.
